Christmas eve is here. Only one more sleep!!! I am exited, but more to the point, MY CHILDREN ARE BOUNCING OFF THE WALLS IN HERE!!!! It’s crazy times people, crazy times. Tonight is my last post in regards to this month’s “Walk the Dogma” challenge. For me, this challenge came at the right time. Not only was I ready to do some reflection and introspection after 11 months of challenges, but December is begging for a moment or two to slow down and jump off the race track. And, I did. The meditation, as I always thought it would be, is great. I did not have any mystical or heart stopping experiences filled with auras and all-knowing, but, I did have 10 minutes of stepping off the hamster wheel and “taking a moment”. Basically bliss as a parent of two small children. Incorporating mindfulness takes practice, but is equally worth it. It helped to literally bring my heart rate down as I often feel like I am running through life, rushing from one thing to the next. Seeing the mindfulness bell, or even scanning my body while standing in line, allowed me that opportunity again to check in, slow down and regroup. I will absolutely, 100%, be continuing to practice these techniques in the future. And now, the stories have been read, the carols have been sung; the cookies and milk (and carrots) have been left out and the stockings have been hung; my babies are all snug in their beds and we are all anxiously awaiting Santa Claus to come! I wish you all a wonderful, magical, mindful Christmas! !!Feliz Navidad a todos!! Saludos, Meagan

Deconstruct the Yuck is about cultivating an authentic, balanced life out of the 'yucks' around us. ‘Yuck’ is the stuff that bogs us down and gets in the way of the life we truly want, and occasionally even our own values. It is personal, social and societal. 'Yuck' focuses on the 'shoulds' in life and dismisses the simplicity that brings joy.
Our 'deconstruct' process consists of a daily blog paired with the goal of doing a year of Monthly Challenges. The hope is that through trying new actions of change and writing our daily reflections, we will rediscover our authentic selves. We also hope to inspire others to find some sort of peace amid the 'yuck.'
See our 'About Deconstruct the Yuck' page for more details of what we mean!
